Brazil youth international forward Marquinhos became our first signing of the summer transfer window when he arrived from Sao Paulo.
He had made his first team debut for his hometown club just a year earlier – shortly after his 18th birthday – and went on to make 33 appearances in all competitions for the side.
An explosive wide forward who often operates on the right but cuts in on his left foot, he helped his side win the Sao Paulo State Championship in 2021, before attracting the attention of Europe’s biggest clubs.
Capped by his country at under-16 and under-17 levels, the pacey Marquinhos (full name Marcus Vinicius Oliveira Alencar) joined up with the first team squad on the pre-season training camp in Germany.
In January 2023, he joined Norwich City on loan for the remainder of the 2022/23 campaign.
