An industrious, determined central midfielder, Albert joined us from Belgian top-flight side Anderlecht during pre-season at the age of 21.

Born in the Belgian capital Brussels, Sambi (as he is known) had spent his entire career to date with Anderlecht, joining their academy in 2014 and going on to make his first-team debut at the age of 18, in December 2017. By then he had already been capped by his country at under-17 level, and he has since progressed to the under-21s, for whom he scored twice in his first six outings.

He was called up to the senior squad for the first time in March 2021, but began this season awaiting his debut. He has been coached by Gunners legend Thierry Henry while on international duty.

A regular in the heart of the Anderlecht midfield over the past couple of seasons, Sambi scored his first senior goals last term – netting three from 33 appearances. Overall he played 69 times in all competitions over four seasons, including twice in the 2018/19 Europa League.

He will spend the second half of the 2022/23 season on loan at Crystal Palace.
